By late Monday morning, 4,642 of Eversource’s 1,273,665 customers in Connecticut were reporting power outages as of 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, as weather conditions downed power lines and utility poles in the area. An additional 2,477 customers of the United Illuminating Company were also reporting outages.
In Fairfield County, Fairfield was hit the hardest, with 2,437 United Illuminating Company customers reporting outages, followed by Bridgeport. Eversource reported that Ridgefield had 1,199 customers reporting outages.
Other outages include Danbury (397 customers); Westport (173); Greenwich (165); Newtown (104); Wilton (79); Bridgeport (49); Norwalk (13); New Fairfield (13); New Canaan (11); Stratford and Norwich.
The week is expected to bring wild weather to the area, with winds topping 30 mph and gusts reaching upwards of 65 mph. Temperatures are expected to drop during the week, with potential rain and snow coming later in the week.
